Aicrest (“we,” “our,” “us”) provides an AI companion app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed when you use the app, how it is used, and your choices.
1. What We Process
We process the following categories of data depending on which features you use:
- Account data
- Sign in with Apple (Apple credential flow)
- Firebase Authentication user/session tokens
- App content you provide
- Chat messages
- Companion/profile settings (for you and your companion)
- Memories/diary entries generated and stored in the app
- Avatar images/videos you select from Photos
- Voice data
- Microphone audio for speech input
- Text sent to text-to-speech (TTS) providers when remote voices are used
- Context data (optional)
- Approximate location (if enabled) for weather/local context
- Region/language context for news headlines
- Purchase/subscription data
- Subscription status and storefront region from Apple StoreKit
- Technical data
- Basic app state/settings needed to run features and sync phone/watch
2. How Data Is Used
We use data to:
- Provide AI conversation and voice responses
- Sync content between iPhone and Apple Watch (if enabled)
- Personalize your companion/profile/voice/avatar settings
- Support subscription entitlement checks
- Enable optional context features (weather/news)
- Maintain app functionality and security
3. On-Device vs Cloud Processing
- On-device processing: Core Aicrest chat generation runs locally on-device using downloaded local models.
- Cloud processing (optional/feature-based):
- Remote TTS providers (OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Hume) process text when those voices are selected.
- Some helper lookups (for example Spotify artist metadata) are routed through our backend functions.
- URL previews may fetch metadata directly from links you send (for example webpage title/oEmbed).
- TTS privacy proxying: Remote TTS requests are sent through our backend proxy, where requests are aggregated before being forwarded to the TTS provider. The TTS provider does not receive your direct Aicrest user identity (for example, your app account identifier or device IP from the app), so the provider cannot directly link a specific text request to a specific Aicrest user.
4. Permissions
The app may request access to:
- Microphone / Speech Recognition for voice input
- Location (When In Use) for optional approximate location context
- Photos when you choose custom avatar images/videos
You can deny or revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information.
We share data only as needed to provide requested features, including with:
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, StoreKit, Speech, WeatherKit)
- Google Firebase (authentication and backend functions)
- Voice/AI providers used by selected features (OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Hume)
- External content providers you explicitly reference (for example URLs you send)
Each third party has its own privacy policy.
6. Tracking, Ads, and Analytics
- We do not use third-party ad tracking in the app.
- App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompts are not used for ad tracking.
- Firebase Analytics is disabled in current app configuration.
7. Storage and Retention
- App data (chat history, memories, profiles, settings) is stored on-device.
- Sensitive local values (such as secure keys/tokens) are stored in Keychain.
- You can set chat history retention in app settings.
- Cached/temporary files (including some generated audio/media) may be cleared automatically or manually.
8. Your Controls
In the app, you can:
- Toggle consent categories for major features
- Export your AI companion data
- Import previously exported data
- Delete all local app data
- Delete your account (after re-authentication)
Note: If you use third-party providers through your own accounts/keys, you may need to delete related data directly with those providers too.
9. Children’s Privacy
Aicrest is intended for adults and not directed to children under 18.
10. International Processing
If you use cloud features, data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date.
